March 2010

I hadn’t seen or talked to Luke in months, but I came across this portrait from last year on my hard drive. I always liked it but it hasn’t (yet) found a home on my Web site. And maybe it never will.

Three frames shot at Bay View’s Club Garibaldi before and after the Dim Suns took the stage (see this earlier post). In my most personal work — literally the shooting I do when I bring my camera along for the ride — I often find myself capturing fragmentary photos that frame some of what’s happening and hint at the rest.

I photographed pizza at Dom & Phil’s for the Bay View Compass‘ March edition.

My wife, Courtney, and I took a much needed vacation on the Caribbean island St. Lucia the first week of March. The goal was relaxation, so I resisted the urge to shoot, shoot, shoot all the scenery. On our return flight I couldn’t hold back any longer, so I whipped out my iPhone to snap a few scenes.

This is my favorite frame from a February assignment for The Daily Reporter, a Milwaukee construction industry paper. I was hired to photograph work at an M&I Bank branch in New Berlin. Here, project leaders discuss their next steps. All the inky blackness prevented this one from running in newsprint, but it’s included in a Web slide show.

Two things…

I’ve thought a lot over the last few months about how to showcase my newest personal and commissioned work, and I decided to add a “recent work” section to www.adamryanmorris.com. It’s now the first listing in the “portfolios” menu.

Also, I’ve added lots of new and previously unseen work to the site, including these portfolios: moments, places, wire on white, Thomas & Murray (sunset street ’scapes from an intersection) and fashion (that’s “low-key fashion of a sort,” not high fashion).
